Hello!
We cannot believe that it's the Met Gala time of year again!! There were some out there choices this year, with Lady Gaga giving the theme her all literally stripping down as she walked the red carpet! Camp - Notes on Fashion was the theme this year, and it was so much fun!!
One of our favourite makeup looks of the night was Candice Shanepoel's look. She really let her dress do the talking but kept her makeup look neutral and it was stunning. This is definitely one that you can recreate at home so here's how we would do it!!
Base
For a really glowing makeup look apply serum to the skin to begin. Some of our favourites include the Kiehls Midnight Recovery Serum or Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair. Even though both these say night in the title don't worry - to get the best result from these they are best used at night when your skin is rejuvenating but they also make a great base for a really hydrated and dewy look.
Follow this with a Beauty Base, our newest product which eliminates piling on loads of layers before makeup! This is a three in one moisturising primer, with SPF 30, Hyaluronic Acid and a leaves the skin with a gorgeous golden glow.
Foundation
Pop some Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye concealer under the eyes. This is a little on the expensive side but it doesn't cake and eliminates any dark circles or blemishes. It's also a great product to pop into your handbag for touch ups!
Follow this with a lovely dewy foundation like the NARS Longwear Radiant Foundation, which is medium to full coverage and lasts all night. This foundation leaves the skin glowing!
Contour
You can recreate Candice's contour using the Sculpted Custom Edition Palette. Using Deep Bronze, which is a really warm bronze rather than a dark bronze, sculpt the cheekbones using your double ended brush. Starting at the bone where the cheekbone meets your ear, work the bronze into the hollows of your cheekbones and down towards the apples of the cheeks. Pop a little down the sides of the nose, and around the hairline for a lovely bronzed look!
Candice's Highlight is really popping so we'd use Pearl Pop on the tips of the cheekbones using your ring finger, and apply by just tapping the product onto the skin. Bring a little up around your temple and down the centre of the nose and along the cupids bow!!
Pop Golden Glow Highlight on top of your cream highlight using the opposite end of your double ended brush, on the tips of cheekbones, down the centre of the nose and cupids bow, and top tip here is to use Golden Glow all over your collar bones for that ultimate glow.
Pure Peach is the ideal blush for a tanned look, and suits most skin tones! Apply to the apples of the cheeks using the Setter Brush and work it slightly back towards your contour.
Eyes
To recreate this look pop some MAC Painterly on the lids of the eyes, this is a lovely primer for eyeshadow, it brightens up the eye and helps your shadow stay in place reducing fall out.
Using a big fluffy blender brush apply some of your Sculpted Deep Bronze onto the hollow of your eye but don't bring it up to the brow bone. For that gorgeous bronzed shadow that Candice is wearing, pop some MAC Woodwinked onto the lid and crease of the eye, bringing it underneath for added smokey effect!
Candice is making her eye makeup look the feature of her makeup look, and has gone for a flick of eyeliner. One of the easiest ways to achieve this look is using an eye gel pot. Inglot 77 is one of our favourites and you can apply using a very thin angle brush. Starting in the middle of the eye work it out towards the edge, turn your brush around and work it backwards to create a flick. Starting smaller and from the middle of the eye helps you to control how much liner to use!
Pop a little Golden Glow on the brow bone and onto the tear duct to help brighten up the eyes. Benefit Kabrow is ideal to fill the brows and shape them, using your spooie to groom and tidy up the brow!
Add a couple of individual lashes from Primark onto the edges of the eye and for a really feline look and lash on They're Real Mascara from Benefit!
Lips
Candice has gone for a gorgeous nude shade on her lips, so we'd recreate this by using Buff from the Nude Edition lip quad and Mac Myth Lipstick on top. This is a really nude lipstick so lip liner is a must to help bring this up!!
Top Tip! Pop some Beauty Base and Golden Glow Powder Highlight onto those Collar bones for a gorgeous glow!
Lots of love,
Aimee xx
